MedShare Activates Response to Ebola Outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo and Surrounding Region

MedShare has confirmed a verified delivery and distribution pathway through collaboration with trusted response partners, including Project HOPE and its local implementing partner, AIRD, which are positioned to receive and distribute critical medical aid within the region. Priority supplies identified by response teams include protective coveralls, gloves, masks, face shields, shoe covers, and additional IPC and WASH-related materials.

In parallel, Airlink has activated transportation support for the Ebola response and is prepared to assist with airlift logistics into Entebbe, Uganda, with onward delivery into affected areas through the established partner network.

“MedShare is committed to supporting frontline health workers and healthcare systems responding to this evolving public health emergency,” said MedShare CEO/Executive Director Stacey Koehnke. “By working alongside experienced humanitarian and logistics partners already operating in the region, we are helping ensure that urgently needed protective equipment and medical supplies can reach healthcare providers safely and efficiently.”

MedShare is currently coordinating internally to finalize available inventory, shipment planning, and logistics processes. Specific shipment quantities, timelines, and additional operational details will be shared as they are confirmed.

Since 2004, MedShare has served nearly 1.5 million people in the DRC through the provision of over $10.25 million in humanitarian aid.
