MedShare to Honor BD with Bob Freeman Global Health Award
MedShare is proud to honor BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) with the Bob Freeman Global Health Award at our inaugural HumanKind celebration on May 6, 2026.

For years, BD has been a deeply engaged and impactful partner in advancing MedShare’s mission to improve lives by expanding healthcare access and advancing health equity. Their support goes far beyond financial investment — it is a true partnership rooted in action, innovation, and shared purpose.
From hands-on volunteer engagement at MedShare and across BD campuses, to their generous in-kind contributions of critical medical supplies and equipment, BD has consistently helped ensure that frontline providers have the tools they need to serve patients in underserved communities.

A powerful example of this impact is BD’s recent donation of 92 ultrasound units to MedShare. Through the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (NAFC), these devices were placed in free and charitable clinics across the United States, where access to diagnostic imaging is often limited or nonexistent. For many patients, this means receiving timely diagnoses for conditions that might otherwise go undetected — from monitoring high-risk pregnancies to identifying cardiac concerns and other serious health issues. By equipping providers with this essential technology, BD is helping shift care from reactive to proactive, improving outcomes and reducing barriers to early intervention.
BD has also demonstrated a deep commitment to strengthening healthcare systems through support of MedShare’s Biomedical Equipment Training program, helping build local capacity and long-term sustainability. Their partnership has extended into leadership and strategic collaboration as well, including participation in the 2025 BD Difference in a Day Marathon facilitated by Taproot Foundation, that enabled the BD team and MedShare to collaborate on the creation of a user-friendly database tool that enables MedShare to calculate annual Patient Impact Metrics for reporting purposes. This measurement tool includes a framework for efficiently processing and analyzing data, reducing manual effort, and improving MedShare’s ability to communicate our impact.

“BD exemplifies what true partnership in global health looks like,” said Stacey Koehnke, CEO/Executive Director of MedShare. “Their commitment to innovation, collaboration, and service has helped expand access to care for countless patients and communities. Through both their generosity and their hands-on engagement, BD continues to help drive meaningful, lasting impact — reflecting the very spirit of the Bob Freeman Global Health Award.”
We are honored to celebrate BD as a changemaker whose contributions are helping bring quality healthcare within reach for communities around the world.
