MedShare's: 5th Annual New York Young Professionals' Global Health Benefit

MedShare’s New York Young Professionals Raise $65,000 to Benefit Haitian Pediatric Hospital
ATLANTA (JULY 7, 2016) – MedShare’s New York Young Professionals recently hosted a charity event and raised $65,000 to deliver a 40-foot shipment of critical medical supplies and equipment to benefit St. Damien Pediatric Hospital in Haiti. The festivities took place at Academy Mansion.
“We were so grateful to our attendees, sponsors and the New York Young Professionals committee for contributing to our most successful event to date,” said Event Co-Chair, Francesca Batista. “The high energy of the group, the fabulous venue and the terrific auction items contributed to the success of the evening.”
St. Damien Pediatric Hospital provides high quality medical treatment for disadvantaged and sick children in Haiti. More than half of all patients are admitted for infectious diseases like tuberculosis, malaria and HIV. And 25% of patients are admitted for non-infectious diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and kidney infection. Most patients admitted are also malnourished.
Headquartered in Atlanta, MedShare is a humanitarian aid organization that works to strengthen health systems in medically underserved communities in the U.S. and abroad. The nonprofit provides sustainable solutions for health care organizations to divert their medical surplus from local landfills and makes these products available to hospitals, clinics and medical posts in the U.S. and in developing countries.
