MedShare to Honor Key Partners at Inaugural HumanKind Celebration

At its inaugural HumanKind celebration, MedShare will honor three extraordinary partners — BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), athenahealth, and Buckhead Church — whose leadership, service, and generosity have helped deliver healing and hope to vulnerable communities around the world.

BD will receive the Bob Freeman Global Health Award for its longstanding commitment to strengthening healthcare systems worldwide. In addition to providing sustaining support for MedShare, BD recently donated 90 ultrasound machines to MedShare, which were distributed to free and charitable clinics across the United States. These ultrasounds play a vital role in enhancing patient care and improving access to healthcare, making them an essential tool for charitable healthcare providers due to their affordability, portability, and diagnostic capabilities.

athenahealth will be honored with the Community Impact Award for its sustained partnership since 2017 and its strong culture of employee service. Through volunteer initiatives, athenahealth employees — affectionately known as athenistas — have assembled more than 17,000 clean birthing kits, providing essential sterile supplies that help protect mothers and newborns during childbirth in low-resource healthcare settings. Athenistas also volunteer regularly at MedShare’s Decatur, Georgia, headquarters, helping sort and prepare medical donations that reach charitable healthcare providers around the world.

Buckhead Church will receive the HumanKindness Award in recognition of its members’ deep commitment to service and compassion. Buckhead Church has always encouraged MedShare to “dream big” when it comes to helping to provide access to healthcare for all — making significant investments in our mission for well over a decade. In addition, Buckhead Church members have volunteered countless hours at MedShare’s distribution facility, helping to prepare medical supplies and equipment that have reached millions of patients in underserved communities worldwide.

“These partners show what is possible when generosity meets purpose,” said Stacey Koehnke, CEO of MedShare. “Their leadership and service have helped expand healthcare access for countless families and communities, and they inspire others to join this vital work.”

The HumanKind celebration is more than an evening of recognition — it is an opportunity to advance MedShare’s lifesaving mission. As demand continues to grow among free and charitable clinics in the United States and underserved healthcare systems globally, community support remains essential to ensuring patients receive care when it matters most.

MedShare invites individuals and organizations to become event sponsors or attend the celebration. Tickets are $175 and include an evening of curated food stations, drinks, music, entertainment, and a hands-on opportunity to support MedShare’s mission.
