JOB DESCRIPTION

The Finance Manager is primarily responsible for financial reporting and management, grants management and accounting. This role plays a key component in ensuring our team has the information and resources to effectively execute our mission.

The Finance Manager will, along with the Director of Finance and HR, oversee MedShare’s financial health and sustainability. This position performs and manages day-to-day accounting, budgeting, and cash flow, while ensuring compliance with regulations and grant restrictions. Key duties include A/P, A/R, payroll, inventory tracking, journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting. Additionally, the Finance Manager will assist the development team with revenue allocations and donor reporting. The Finance Manager will also provide office and administrative support such as managing office supplies.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to meet fast-paced deadlines and excels in the areas of nonprofit financial administration and management.

Reports To: Interim VP of Finance and Development
Status: Full-time, Salaried, Exempt
Location: Decatur, GA; Hybrid eligible
Salary Range: $65,000 – $85,000

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the organization including accounts payable, revenue generating activities, and payroll
  • Prepare accurate monthly account reconciliations
  • Assist Interim VP of Finance and Development with producing regular financial statements, revenue dashboards and supporting narrative analysis for regular meetings with the Finance Committee, Board, and Leadership Team that provide insights into the organization’s performance against its financial plans and related financial health
  • Support budget creation, budget projections, analysis of income and expenses, and analysis of cash flow on a regular basis
  • Assist Leadership Team, Finance Committee and Board with monitoring, assessing, and evaluating the financial performance and structure
  • Review expenses being charged to grants and adjust to ensure correct allocation
  • Manage and report monthly revenue and ensure accurate QuickBooks and Raiser’s Edge integration.
  • Manage the processing of local, state, and federal agency registrations
  • Manage accounts payables and receivables, including accurate and timely processing of bills, deposits, invoices, etc.
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
  • Assist with the coordination and leadership of both the annual audit and 1099 tax returns; liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
  • Document and address issues requiring attention and/or further discussion.
  • Check the organization’s mail and deposit checks
  • Ensure donor revenue is properly allocated and tracked in Raiser’s Edge in a timely manner
  • Ensure office supplies and other needs are met efficiently and timely

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • BA/BS degree in business, finance, or accounting preferred. CPA certification or master’s degree is a plus
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing nonprofit finances including grants
  • Ability to pay close and accurate attention to details
  • Sophisticated nonprofit and government grant accounting and management strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) work, and detailed budget processes.
  • Possess personal drive to start a project, maintain a sense of ownership and see it through to completion
  • Demonstrated skill in providing a high level of service to multiple customers, ideally in a nonprofit context
  • Intermediate to expert Proficiency with accounting software (specifically Quickbooks), spreadsheets and data management systems required
  • Intermediate to expert proficiency with CRM software such as Sales Force or Raiser’s Edge.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
