Donor Relations Manager

Status: Hybrid, Salaried Exempt
Rate of pay: $65,000 – $85,000

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for supporting MedShare’s annual contributed income goal of $2M. This includes meeting revenue goals for individual and major giving and events.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Annual Campaign and Major Gifts

  • Identifying, cultivating, and stewarding individual donor relationships.
  • Maintaining a major gifts portfolio of 100-150 donors and regularly soliciting major gifts.
  • Strategically managing donor relationships, frequently meeting and corresponding with individual donors, averaging 5- 8 touchpoints a year with each donor in your portfolio.
  • Developing and maintaining a pipeline of prospective major donors through research, referrals, and events.
  • Working with the Communications and Marketing Director to create, evaluate, and manage appeals and campaigns ensuring budget goals are met.
  • Assessing current plans for annual fund donors and implementing improvements.
  • Focusing on the growth and retention of the annual donor pool.
  • Establishing and maintaining a Donor Giving Circle to engage major donors. Defined as donors making gifts of $1,000 or more.

Stewardship

  • Every gift, whether time, talent, or treasure—has the power to transform lives, and we are committed to honoring that trust through transparency, gratitude, and meaningful engagement.
  • Designing and implementing a donor stewardship strategy that celebrates and recognizes contributions at all levels.
  • Creating personalized thank-you communications, impact reports, and updates that show donors the tangible results of their generosity.
  • Managing donor recognition programs, including events, naming opportunities, and public acknowledgments.
  • Collaborating with fundraising, marketing, and program teams to ensure consistent, donor messaging.
  • Coordinating small-scale donor appreciation events and behind-the-scenes experiences that bring our mission to life.

Events

In partnership with the Interim VP of Finance and Development, plan, manage, and execute 1 – 2 annual fundraising events designed to:

  • Generate Revenue: directly raise funds through ticket sales, sponsorships, auctions, and direct appeals.
  • Build Awareness: draw public and media attention, educating the community about the organization’s mission and the social issues it addresses.
  • Cultivate Donors: provide an interactive setting for organizations to network, meet potential major donors, and show appreciation to existing supporters.
  • Engage Community: bring people together in a shared experience, strengthening local ties and inspiring a broader culture of philanthropy and volunteerism.

Donor Record Management

  • In partnership with the Raiser’s Edge contractor, ensure all individual gifts received are properly entered and restricted per the donors’ intentions in donor CRM database
  • Ensure all interactions and communications with Individual Donors and Sponsors are properly tracked in Raiser’s Edge to improve relationships and communications with donors and create a giving history for all support
  • Partner with the Interim VP, Finance and Development in all donor stewardship efforts

Other duties as assigned to support Development team efforts

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Proven track record in stewarding 4 – 6+ figure major gifts
  • Successful in executing fundraising events
  • Ability to monitor and report on fundraising KPIs
  • Highly collaborative
  • Superior communication skills – verbal, written, and web-based.
  • Ability to effectively work with volunteers.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, and Raiser’s Edge NXT
  • Strong commitment to learning, growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to alleviate and/or mitigate conflict.
  • Works on skills that can help communicate his/her point to an audience belonging to a completely different identity and/or background. These differences can be identity-based, geographical, ethical, political, or historical.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4-Year bachelor’s degree
  • 2-4 years proven fundraising experience with individual donors and campaigns
  • Highly skilled in all forms of communication – written, verbal
