MedShare, an Atlanta-based humanitarian aid organization dedicated to global health, and Preston-Werner Foundation, a private family foundation based in San Francisco, CA, are partnering on the global COVID-19 response. In addition to their individual efforts to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to institutions in the U.S., MedShare and the Preston-Werner Foundation have joined together to support the need for health care supplies in developing countries. MedShare provided 40,000-unit shipments of PPE and other critical supplies to eight existing Preston-Werner Foundation partners.
All PPE recipients are members of the Community Health Impact Coalition and are committed to working alongside national governments to ensure an effective COVID-19 response. Supplies were sent to Muso in Mali, Integrate Health in Togo, Last Mile Health in Liberia, VillageReach in Malawi, Pivot in Madagascar, Lwala Community Alliance in Kenya, Living Goods in Uganda, and Partners in Health in Lesotho.
The COVID-19 pandemic is still unfolding in Africa, and as such, these medical supplies are intended to bolster the efforts of organizations working to control community spread and protect health care professionals and the patients receiving care.
