Impact Stories

United States
A Powerful Partnership Supporting Clinics Providing Access to Quality Care
In partnership with BD and the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC), MedShare was proud to donate 92 new portable ultrasound machines to free and safety-net clinics in 30 states across the United States. This donation will dramatically enhance access to vital diagnostic imaging services for underserved populations, particularly in rural and low-income communities.
In addition to the donation of equipment, the MedShare biomedical support team provided essential technical training to clinic staff on proper installation, use, and ongoing maintenance of the ultrasound machines. This training is a critical sustainability measure, ensuring that clinics—many of which lack the resources and technical expertise to care for biomedical equipment—can fully integrate these tools into their healthcare offerings.

Honduras
Operation Rainbow Delivers Hope, One Surgery at a Time
In their most recent medical mission to Honduras, Operation Rainbow’s impact was felt profoundly. Supported by critical medical supplies from MedShare, the mission team provided life-changing orthopedic surgeries and non-surgical treatments to hundreds of patients, many of them children suffering from congenital deformities or traumatic injuries.
The team’s most recent trip to Honduras specifically addressed some of the country’s most pressing orthopedic challenges—from untreated trauma injuries to complex congenital limb conditions.
MedShare is proud to support Operation Rainbow’s missions by supplying critically needed surgical tools, orthopedic equipment, and consumables—resources that empower medical volunteers to perform complex procedures and offer comprehensive care.

United States
Philips & MedShare strengthen U.S. healthcare readiness for disasters
Unlike traditional reactive disaster response programs, this initiative prioritizes disaster preparedness as a strategy to save lives and create continuity of care. MedShare will have Philips medical equipment and other essential products on hand, ensuring these resources are available for rapid deployment when natural disasters disrupt access to healthcare. Prompted by the critical need highlighted during Hurricane Helene in 2024, this strategic partnership has been designed to supply essential medical equipment and supplies to enable continuity of care to people and communities in need during times of crisis.
This two-year pilot program will serve as a model for future expansion, with a focus on durability and scalability. A key component of the program is the reusability of the donated medical equipment, which will be shipped back to MedShare for reprocessing and redeployment after each emergency. This approach not only maximizes the impact of each device but also sets a new standard, supporting reuse and encouraging environmentally practices in disaster response.

Ukraine
Commitment to helping save lives continues in Ukraine
Working in sync with a wide array of partner relief organizations that maintain a community-based presence on the ground in Ukraine and surrounding countries, MedShare has bolstered the herculean efforts of Convoy of Hope, Feed the Hungry, Salesian Missions, Razom for Ukraine, and NOVA Ukraine, among others, in the delivery of over $31 million in humanitarian aid both into Ukraine and to Ukrainian refugees in the region. MedShare has also provisioned 38 medical mission teams.
MedShare’s partnership-powered relief efforts have thus far resulted in the distribution of tons of critical PPE, wound care, first aid, hygiene, primary care and surgical supplies generously provided by Owens & Minor, MC Johnson, Johnson & Johnson, DePuy Synthes, Heart to Heart, Clinics Can Help, Sutter Healthcare, Henry Schein, Philips Healthcare, Mizuho OSI, CHOA, Wellstar Health, and logistical support from Airlink and Flexport.

United States
Support for safety-net clinics in US critical to MedShare mission
The Harriet Tubman Women’s Clinic at the Clarkston (GA) Community Health Center provides quality care for uninsured and underserved women in a welcoming, safe, and culturally sensitive environment.
The HTWC team is made up entirely of volunteer physicians, nurse practitioners, medical, nursing and undergraduate students from the greater Atlanta community and Emory University School of Medicine. MedShare is proud to be able to support the clinic through our primary care supply center, where clinicians regularly shop for critical medical supplies – saving The Harriet Tubman Women’s Clinic thousands of dollars each year that can instead be utilized for direct care.

Nigeria and Cote d’lvoire
Safe Birth Initiative (SBI) improves health outcomes for expectant mothers and newborns
As part of MedShare’s Maternal and Child Health Program. in partnership with The Coca-Cola Company, the Safe Birth Initiative (SBI) was designed as to improve health outcomes for expectant mothers and newborn children in Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire. Our work this past year focused on Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU), one of Cote d’lvoire’s largest healthcare institutions.
With Cote d’Ivoire reporting a maternal mortality rate of 617 deaths per 100,000 live births, and an infant mortality rate of 58 deaths per 1,000 live births (compared to a maternal mortality rate of 23.8 and an infant mortality rate of 5.68 in the United States), the risks associated with giving birth in these low-resourced countries are incredibly disproportionate.

Honduras
Medical mission bolsters struggling Honduran hospital
The 403rd Aeromedical Staging Squadron undertook a medical mission and training exercise to Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where a 30-member team partnered with the medical staff at Hospital Escuela – the largest public hospital in Honduras to provide life-saving care to the community.
Over the course of the two-week trip, the team integrated their capabilities with Hospital Escuela to provide critical care and at the same time, train to ensure deployment readiness for future needs.
The team was able to partner with MedShare to secure essential medical supplies they needed for their mission. Through this medical mission trip, this group of Air Force medical reservists was able to positively impact the lives of the patients in the local community, share knowledge and skills with the local medical team, and gain invaluable training for future deployments.
Our Impact on the Planet
MedShare supports a circular economy – a systemic approach to economic development designed to benefit businesses, society and the environment by eliminating waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use by prioritizing durability, reuse and recycling, and regenerating natural systems to improve the environment.

Innovation Fuels New MedShare Initiatives
Enhanced online ordering experience for charitable clinics and medical mission teams
Thanks to generous donations by cherished MedShare partner, Buckhead Church, and renowned digital marketing agency Terra, MedShare recently launched a new, streamlined ordering interface that will provide for an exceptionally enhanced, user-friendly online experience for all of our healthcare partners.
AI-powered app a key new sorting innovation, enhancing accuracy
Thanks to long-time MedShare supporters Daya and Anjali Menon, MedShare has a fast, accurate and efficient solution for sorting our surgical steel items. Interfacing with an AI-powered 4-million-item surgical instrument directory, volunteers can now scan, identify, and categorize instruments instantly – significantly reducing human error, expediting the sorting process, and enhancing the volunteer experience all at the same time.
Adapting to change and measuring impact in a profound way.
Thanks to the 2025 BD Difference in a Day Marathon facilitated by Taproot Foundation, the BD team and MedShare recently collaborated on a critical project to create a user-friendly database tool that enables MedShare to calculate and report a monthly, year-to-date (YTD), and annual Patient Impact Metric for reporting purposes. This measurement tool includes a framework for efficiently processing and analyzing data, reducing manual effort, and improving MedShare’s ability to communicate our impact.
Virtual biomedical training & support services key to partner sustainability
Through a very generous donation from long-time partner, BD, MedShare recently completed the delivery of 92 new portable ultrasound units to free and charitable clinics in 30 states across the U.S. -- the largest single biomedical equipment donation ever facilitated by MedShare in the U.S. The sheer scope of the project presented both a challenge and an opportunity: to move from on-site training to a cost- and time-efficient virtual training model.
