BD Young Professionals Step Up to Support Clean Birthing Kit Initiative

Longtime MedShare partner BD hosted a tremendously successful Clean Birthing Kit event at BD’s headquarters in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. During the event, 32 BD early career professionals helped to assemble over 1,000 Clean Birthing Kits, which include the necessary supplies for a safe, hygienic birth outside of a medical facility — especially critical in developing nations. BD has been a generous corporate partner to MedShare through the years and continues to support MedShare’s mission and health equity in a myriad of ways.

MedShare and Genentech Partner to Impact 2 Million Mothers Initiative

As part of Genentech Gives Back Week, Genentech hosted one of the largest Clean Birthing Kit events to date at their South San Francisco campus. Over 500 Genentech volunteers participated, nearly doubling their goal of assembling 1,000 Clean Birthing Kits (CBK) for MedShare’s Maternal & Child Health program. With Genentech CEO Alexander Hardy pitching in, the group didn’t stop until nearly 2,000 CBKs were completed to help facilitate safe and sanitary birthing conditions for mothers in developing countries who may ultimately give birth outside of a medical facility. The kits give these newborns much better odds of surviving their first 48 hours after birth when they are at highest risk of infection due to an unsafe birthing environment.
