MedSharing a World of Art

by Nancy Koziol, 2007 Event Chair

Pieces for sale at this year’s art auction will include: a handmade, beaded basket from Ethiopia, a painting by local painter Anthony Raffalovich, and Zimbabwean Shona Sculptures from Mbare, Ltd.

A wonderful evening of great food, live music, beautiful works of art, exciting silent auction items and crafts from around the world will be enjoyed by all who attend MedShare’s second annual art auction fundraiser, MedSharing a World of Art.

The event will be held on Saturday, October 27th from 6:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Kimberly-Clark Corporation’s Roswell campus. The event details and a link to purchase tickets are available at www.medshare.org.

The main event of the evening will be the live art auction. Regency Fine Arts will conduct the auction and provide much of the artwork. In addition to Regency, several acclaimed Atlanta galleries and artists are making significant contributions to the evening. Mason-Murer Fine Art, Landsdell Gallery, The Lowe Gallery and Ann Jackson Gallery have each given one or more wonderful pieces to auction. Individual artists such as painters Ruth Barrett and Anthony Raffalovich and photographer Laura Griffin are also donating works.

In addition to the art auction, there will be a silent auction featuring items from the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Hawks, overnight stays at Reynolds Plantation and InterContinental Hotels, golf packages, an autographed book by President Jimmy Carter, Alton Brown cookbooks personally dedicated to the winners, and many other items.

The International Craft Market will include works such as sculptures, jewelry, photographs, and paintings made by extremely talented artisans from many of the countries to which MedShare delivers much needed medical supplies.

The evening’s wonderful food will be provided by Food Studio (a Fifth Group restaurant), Whole Foods, Edible Arrangements and others. Chefs from the Food Studio will be on hand to conduct live cooking demonstrations.

This year’s event is certain to be a great evening for an even greater cause. We hope you will be able to attend.
