Miss America 2007 and National 4-H Congress Participants Volunteer at MedShare
On Monday, November 26, 48 young volunteers from various National 4-H clubs around the country arrived at MedShare to sort medical supplies. The volunteer event was part of the National 4-H Congress, a leadership development conference held each year in Atlanta.
Accompanying the 4-H volunteers was Miss America 2007, Lauren Nelson. Ms. Nelson, of Lawton, Oklahoma, spent part of her twenty-first birthday touring MedShare's operations and sorting various medical supplies with the 4-H volunteers.
"We were impressed by the enthusiasm of the 4-H volunteers and their eagerness to learn. MedShare's staff had a fantastic time working with them. They ended up packing 498 boxes, which is enough to fill half of one of our forty-foot containers," said Katie McClung, MedShare's Volunteer Program Manager.
