MedShare Ships
Atlanta Business Chronicle - MedShare International has received a five-year grant of $250,000 from Kimberly-Clark Corp. (NYSE: KBM).
Decatur-based MedShare collects surplus medical supplies and equipment from hospitals and ships the goods to needy hospitals across Latin America. The grant will be used to help fund the shipments of 40-foot containers full of supplies to hospitals in countries such as El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
After the grant announcement, MedShare celebrated by sending a container to Honduras.
MedShare currently works with about a dozen Atlanta-area hospitals to send their surplus equipment and supplies to places where they are desperately needed. The group also works with nonprofit partners such as Counterpart International, International Medical Corps, Food for the Poor, Inc. and the Seton Institute.
