Recently, A.B. Short welcomed U.S. Congressman John Linder and Dr. Julie Gerberding, the Director of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), along with members of their respective staffs.
Following a tour of the facility, they discussed various ways in which MedShare and the CDC might work together. These included: the possibility that CDC staff members in over 50 countries could assist MedShare with the logistics of container arrivals; the CDC providing recommendations on issues related to product expiration dates, warehousing and handling of relief efforts; and the possibility of working together in the area of equipment donations relating to research.
Both Congressman Linder and Dr. Gerberding expressed their appreciation for MedShare's humanitarian mission and its work in providing medical supplies and equipment to needy healthcare facilities overseas.
On behalf of MedShare, A.B. Short expressed the belief that "Dr. Gerberding and the CDC staff understand many of the challenges we face in carrying out our mission. We look forward to a mutually beneficial working relationship with them."
