Decatur, GA - MedShare International joined sixteen other Medical Supply Recovery Organizations (MSRO) to discuss the future of their work by which unneeded medical supplies in the United States are diverted from landfills and shipped for use in the economically developing world. This meeting, held in Decatur, GA, was called by MedShare International to provide a forum for MSRO's to collaborate on best practices for collecting opened but unused and new but unneeded medical supplies and equipment from hospitals, manufacturers, and distributors.

Every day US hospitals prepare for surgeries and procedures by opening instrument and supply packs - much of this valuable product is never used. Due to government regulations, these supplies must be discarded. MSRO's work to collect these supplies, which never had patient contact, so they can be used to save lives around the world. While American doctors throw away exam gloves that have never been used, medical professionals throughout the world are washing and reusing gloves on multiple patients. MedShare's CEO & Co-Founder, AB Short, said, "When the US has so much extra and other countries have so little, we must create a bridge to move supplies from where they are unneeded to places where the need is vital."
