ATLANTA, Georgia. – For 10 years, MedShare has bridged the gap between surplus and need by recovering and redistributing surplus medical supplies and equipment from hospitals and medical companies to needy health facilities around the world.
On Tuesday, November 17 at 3:30 p.m., as part of its 10th Anniversary festivities, MedShare will host a ceremony to celebrate its 500th tractor-trailer size container shipment of medical supplies and equipment to those in need. MedShare’s Southeastern Council is sponsoring the container shipment to Santa Rosa Maternity Hospital in Ecuador.
“I’ve been involved with MedShare for many years on their Board of Trustees and now the Southeastern Council. We’ve spent 10 successful years collecting and sending medical supplies across the globe that have made a true impact on people’s lives, and the SE Council is honored to sponsor this monumental shipment to Ecuador,” said Glen Reed, Senior Partner at King & Spalding and Chairman of the Southeastern Council.
The ceremony will recognize this organizational milestone, as well as MedShare’s 10-year anniversary. Special remarks will be made by Glen Reed, the Southeastern Council Chairman, and MedShare Co-Founders, A.B. Short and Bob Freeman.

Those invited and expected to attend include past and present MedShare Trustees, Regional Council members, major financial donors, container sponsors, select foreign consuls and dignitaries, political leaders and hospital and product donors.
The ceremony offers a photo opportunity for the media as MedShare recognizes the impact of their mission through the formal send-off of its 500th shipment of medical supplies and equipment. It will take place on Tues, Nov 17 at 3:30 p.m. at MedShare located at 3240 Clifton Springs Rd., Decatur, GA 30034.
