Meet Conor Flannery of CausetoPaddle.org. He’s a 29-year-old medical device design engineer for a cardiovascular company in Los Angeles where he designs life-saving products for pacemaker and cardiac arrhythmia patients. But Conor is not only a biomedical engineer. He is also a kayaker embarking on a 2,500 mile journey to raise money for MedShare. His exciting voyage will start Mid-March in Seattle, Washington and end in Anchorage, Alaska in August or September. The ultimate goal of his endeavor is to raise $20,000 to sponsor one container of medical supplies and equipment to a needy health facility abroad.
Conor regularly volunteered at MedShare in 2005 while at Georgia Tech working toward his Masters in Mechanical Engineering, and also served as vice-president of the Engineering World Health student chapter. Conor has named his expedition “Cause to Paddle”, and sees this expedition as an opportunity to merge his passion for the environment and global health.
Conor is actively training and fundraising towards his goal. To learn more about this unique adventure and contribute towards his fundraising efforts, visit his website below and see a video of Conor in action: http://www.causetopaddle.org/CF/Home.html
