Bridging the gap between surplus and need.

The Consular Corps of Georgia Volunteers at MedShare

September 02, 2009

On Saturday, August 22, MedShare was honored to host an event for the Consular Corps of Georgia, where they learned about MedShare, volunteered sorting medical supplies and bid farewell to Brian Oak, the Consul General of Canada.

Mr. Oak has served as Canada’s Consul General in Georgia for the past four years, and has been interested in MedShare’s mission since meeting Nell Diallo at an Atlanta Rotary Club event. As a way to introduce MedShare to the Consular Corps, he invited his colleagues and friends from the Georgia Consulate offices to MedShare where they heard about our mission and operations, and also volunteered sorting medical supplies.

"One of the personal pleasures of our four years in Atlanta has been the association my wife and I have had with a number of charitable or non-governmental organizations that are doing much to improve the quality of life in this city and beyond. MedShare is one of these. We thought that an interesting and practical way of saying goodbye to friends and acquaintances was to invite them to a Saturday morning volunteer work shift,” shares Mr. Oak.
