All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, Georgia recently served with Missionaries of the Poor in Jamaica. This is an annual medical mission trip for All Saints, and this year they came to MedShare to get supplies for their work.
While in Jamaica, they used supplies provided by MedShare for basic medical care to about 75 people at the Missionaries of the Poor facilities. General vital signs are taken such as heart rate and blood pressure. Team members cleaned and treated infections, bed sores and wounds. They also fabricated some hand splints for some of the children who had spastic cerebral palsy.
“The medical supply don
ations from MedShare had a significant impact, particularly the disposables, like gloves, bandages and gauze. These items were continually needed and were rationed due to the lack of these resources,” said John Ketter from All Saints.
