"We estimate there are over 90,000 tons of waste generated per year
by hospitals in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties. About one-third of this waste is recyclable and a significant portion of that recyclable waste is perfectly useful medical product. Yet this surplus is heaped onto landfills or burned in incinerators in our own backyards while the needs of others in the economically developing world go unmet. This represents a huge unmet need in South Florida.
MedShare pairs surplus medical supplies with needy healthcare facilities in underserved communities around the world while preventing hundreds of tons of medical supplies from going into area landfills. Now is the time for MedShare to expand into South Florida.
As the MedShare Florida efforts broaden, we need your support. I urge you to find a way to get involved. You can volunteer your time at one of our events or introduce us to a group of your friends who want to help the environment or the medically underserved. You can introduce us to area hospitals or medical manufacturers who have product to contribute. Donations are always needed, especially in the early days, as we gather momentum to find and secure our own facility in South Florida with the aim of collecting area donations and shipping our own containers by Summer 2012.
We need your help as we bring MedShare to South Florida. Join us!"

"Thank you for taking the time to learn more about MedShare. We're passionate about delivering surplus medical supplies to underserved populations around the world while lessening the impact of medical waste in our own communities. Since we were founded in 1998, we've shipped $93 million worth of medical supplies and equipment in 715 40-foot containers to 88 countries around the world. In doing so, we've not only saved over 2 million cubic feet of medical supplies from landfills, but we've also improved countless lives.
Everywhere we go, people tell us the world needs more of what we have to offer: more recipient clinics supported, more supplies saved from landfills, more lives saved. South Florida is critical to MedShare’s efforts to “do more.” Please read on to find out how you can help make this a reality. Thanks in advance for your support in helping us achieve our mission of bridging the gap between surplus and reality!"
