Bridging the gap between surplus and need.

Chuck Haupt

Executive Director, MedShare Western Region

Chuck Haupt serves as MedShare’s Executive Director, Western Region. He is a life-long volunteer, having helped build homes in the slums of Mexico and the inner city of Oakland, California.  He has helped feed the homeless, and was a team member of the largest medical missions to Southeast Asia. His extensive exposure to the world, having travelled more than two million miles, has given him insights into the disparities among peoples – especially their access to healthcare services.

Chuck joined MedShare in 2008 to launch its operation expansion to the West Coast. Since that time he has quickly established MedShare as California’s first large-scale medical supply recycler. Western Region staff and 500 volunteers have already diverted over 80 tons of unused medical surplus from Northern California landfills resulting in their ability to provision international medical teams and make shipments to hospitals in Latin America and Asia.

Chuck came to MedShare after more than 20 years in the technology industry where he worked in a sales and marketing management and product development roles. His business, as well as, his international and humanitarian experience complement MedShare’s mission to bridge the gap between surplus and need to improve healthcare around the globe.
