Back to Top...Yes, we are looking to expand into South Florida and/or the Mid-Atlantic Region by 2013. We currently have a Regional Council in New York that is supporting our work in the Northeast.
Back to Top...We primarily work with hospitals in the Atlanta metro area and Northern California to recover surplus medical products. We also work with some hospitals and clinics outside our primary collection areas along with many medical distributors and manufacturers throughout the U.S. to accept donations of medical supplies and equipment. Back to Top...No, all products must have a minimum shelf life of 12-18 months because of strict customs regulations in most of our recipient countries.
Back to Top...We send medical supplies and equipment to recipient hospitals in 40-foot tractor-trailer size containers. Each container, which holds around 1,000 boxes, contains roughly $155,000 worth of medical supplies and equipment, and weighs around 12,000 lbs.
Back to Top...We do not accept pharmaceuticals, but a list of organizations that can help with these items can be found here.
Back to Top...Yes, we are always in need of working biomedical equipment. We have full-time biomedical engineers who prepare items for shipment and travel internationally to train medical staff on proper use of biomedical equipment. A list of the biomedical equipment accepted can be found here.
Back to Top...MedShare works with hospitals, clinics, manufacturers, distributors and individuals to receive disposable medical supplies, gently used durable goods and operational biomedical equipment. Most needed are simple items like gloves, sutures, surgical instruments, stethoscopes, wheelchairs, patient monitors, and sterilizers.
Back to Top...Yes, we offer a variety of supplies to free and safety-net clinics in Georgia and California through our Medical Mission Team store. Application for free clinic support is available here.
Back to Top...Visit the Medical Mission Team page and submit an online application. Once your application has been approved, someone will contact you to set up an appointment to come in and pick out your medical supplies. You must have a doctor or nurse sign the application.
Back to Top...We develop working relationships with corporations, faith-based organizations and other international nonprofits that have overseas staff and are committed to improving healthcare in their communities. Because these partners have a vested financial stake in that they have somehow helped sponsor the shipping container, they help MedShare shepherd the medical shipments through customs and to the recipient healthcare facility.
Back to Top...New applicants must complete a comprehensive application including references. We also require written proof from the applicant's government that it is a legitimate government or non-profit organization qualified to accept duty-free humanitarian aid in its country.
